Acupuncture improves the body's functions and promotes the natural self-healing process

At Beaumont Wellness Centre we offer Beaumont’s most experienced Acupuncturists in a safe, sterile (yet still relaxing!) clinical environment. Any medical procedure that breaks the skin is an intrusive procedure that should be carried out a professional clinic with rigorous policies, standards and inspections. Needles are never reused. At our facility we offer extended evening hours and you will be steps away from other healthcare practitioners who are dedicated to your health and wellness.

Acupuncture can treat a variety of health concerns. Some common conditions that have been successfully treated with acupuncture are:

Pain: Acupuncture can effectively treat many types of pain by a combination of loosening tight muscles and fascia, breaking the pain cycle, releasing endorphins and treating the root cause. It can help alleviate nerve pain (such as trigeminal neuralgia and sciatica), chronic migraines and headaches, joint and muscle pain, idiopathic chest and heart pains and sports injury or overuse.

Gastrointestinal health: Improper digestion can result in frequent trips to the washroom, pain and a lack of energy due to an inability to absorb vital nutrients. Most gastrointestinal issues, including GERD, IBS and IBD, respond very well to acupuncture treatments. Depending on what is being treated the aim is to increase relaxation, stimulate or inhibit gastric or intestinal contractions and decrease inflammation and pain.

Women’s health: Acupuncture has the ability to treat the root cause of PMS, painful menstrual cramping, infertility, menopausal symptoms, hormonal imbalances and more. It has also been shown to significantly boost the chances of becoming pregnant for those undergoing western fertility treatments.

Emotional health: Acupuncture regulates the endocrine and nervous systems. This allows it to balance many hormones and chemical substances in the body. Due to this, it can help treat many issues such as irritability, anxiety, high stress and depression.

Many other concerns: Some examples of other issues that can be treated are insomnia, general fatigue, feeling too hot or cold, lack of circulation and night sweating. It can also help with treatments for other modalities such as releasing tight hips for easier chiropractic adjustments, reduction of tight muscles and knots for more mobility and less pain during massage treatments or as an aid for smoking cessation.

Jocelyn enjoys treating all conditions but has a particularly affinity for treating disorders of the head and neck (whiplash and it’s associated disorders, jaw disorders such as TMJD etc), digestive health, emotional and mental health (including stress andanxiety), sleep disorders, women’s health and pain.

Dr. Sheryl Bruce, Dr.Ac.

Sheryl has been treating clients with Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine since 2002. In addition to her 6 years of formal education, she studied and worked in China, Japan and Indonesia for a few years before her return to Alberta where she then embraced an opportunity to take over and run the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Clinic in the Edmonton General Hospital. She had a vibrant practice there for almost 15 years prior to making her way out to Beaumont with her family.

The combination of Sheryl’s years of clinical experience and the comprehensive perspective that Chinese medicine employs allows her to help people uncover and treat the root cause(s) of disharmony and dis-ease in the body. She is truly passionate about this field of medicine and has been able to see many people reap life changing results from her treatments and care.

While Sheryl feels confident to treat any kind of dissonance in the body, be it some kind of emotional or physical pain to deep internal illness, she has a fascination with women’s health such as fertility issues, pregnancy, menopause, anxiety, life transitions, you name it :-) She is an educator by nature and always seeks to empower her clients with as much practical information as possible so that the treatment extends far beyond the treatment room.

Check out her website at www.sherylstanford.com where you can read her many articles and benefit from her free guides to begin empowering yourself with the fundamental principles of Chinese medicine. There you will also see that along with her own personal journey as a woman, wife and mother of two, she has cultivated a deep understanding of the interaction of mind-body-spirit in promoting and sustaining health and wellbeing. Her rich tapestry of knowledge allows her to offer unique and much needed insight into the health challenges many people face in the world today.

Outside the clinic you will find Sheryl writing, spending time with her family, friends and dog, walking, running, rollerblading, skiing, doing yoga, singing karaoke, road trips, traveling and and striving to live life to its fullest :-)
